Easy fix or nightmare scenario, we fix all blocked toilets

There is no anxiety quite like those first few moments after you realise you’ve gotten your toilet blocked. The fear that something deep down in the bowels of your house might burst, or come back up the path it went down.

The Inner City Plumbing team has spent 30 years wading through toilet blockages that seemed more in need of an exorcist than a plumber. But in all that time, there hasn’t been a blocked toilet Melbourne could throw at us that we couldn’t fix.

Not all toilet issues are an emergency. We can tackle an endlessly leaking toilet bowl or a toy stuck in a toilet trap relatively easily — you might be able to solve those yourself. But it’s not always easy to diagnose how badly affected your blocked drain is. Put us on the job, and we’ll guarantee your site isn’t at risk of becoming a swamp.

A top-notch plumber needs top-notch tools

We insist on using industry-leading equipment and components for all our plumbing services, especially clearing blocked toilets. It’s not just about our preferences, though — it’s about yours. Quality tools enable quality service and allow us to design long-term plumbing solutions.

Our blocked toilet services

A blockage can travel through your toilet pipes and deeper into your plumbing system. As a full-service plumbing specialist, we have the tools and training to locate blockages anywhere in the system and remove them with minimal disruption to your site.

Our service areas

While we’re still headquartered in Abbotsford, our plumbers aren’t strictly tied to the Melbourne CBD. These days, we happily service all suburbs within the Melbourne metropolitan area — and we still guarantee our one-hour emergency response time.

We provide plumbing services for all sites, including homes, apartments and other strata sites, as well as all commercial, industrial and public venues. If there’s a blocked or broken toilet anywhere in Melbourne, we’ll fix it.

What our customers say

The toilet plumber Melbourne counts on

A good tradie should be like a best friend — always there when you need them. The thing about busted toilets is that they don’t have to be overflowing with sewage to be an emergency; a clean toilet that just refuses to flush can be just as much of a pain if you’ve got a family, tenants or clients to care for. You can always count on us to be there when you need us.

About us

Plumbing isn’t rocket science, but we approach it with the same level of care and zeal. There are really only three things you need to know about us:

  • We always aim to go above and beyond your expectations
  • We’re continually striving to learn and expand our services
  • We love what we do

That last point’s the most important one. As a family business, we’re fortunate enough to be able to share our tradecraft with the people we love the most. That’s the secret to our success — it’s the reason we’ve lasted 30 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are five clear signs your toilet has a blockage:

  1. Slow draining – A toilet bowl should flush instantly. If yours takes a minute (or even seems to take a few seconds longer than usual), that’s a sure sign the pipes are clogged.
  2. Foul odours – Gasses from backed-up plumbing will seek the path of least resistance, which is usually up and out of your toilet. Putrid sewer smells are a sign of a deep clog.
  3. Gurgling sounds from your other drains – Pipe blockages in your toilet can affect the water levels in the rest of your plumbing. If you hear gurgling from your sink, it means there’s a block somewhere in the system.
  4. Overflowing gully trap – A gully trap is a relief point to stop excess waste from flowing back into your site. It looks like a little drain on the side of your building. If it’s overflowing, that’s a problem.
  5. Overflowing toilets – The obvious sign. Throw some towels down, shut off any open flames and cordon off the area. Give us a call as soon as possible, and we’ll be there within the hour.

A blocked toilet can be caused by hair, larger debris, tissues or too much toilet paper being flushed down the toilet.  Over time these blockages gradually build up, and the water draining away from the bathroom becomes slower and slower.

You may be able to unclog your toilet yourself using a plunger or a chemical drain cleaner. However, plunging doesn’t always work on deep clogs, and harsh chemical cleaners can erode older pipes. We recommend you leave the job in our capable hands.

External gullies, stacks and drains can become blocked with falling leaves, dirt and other detritus. If these drains become so clogged that water ceases to flow through them, then they can cause your toilet to block.
